MayaB

My name is Maya, and this is my blog. I'm a thirty year old woman who usually lives in Trondheim, Norway, but now I have resently moved with my family to London for seven months. Through this blog I hope to give whomever who wants to visit a small insight in my world: my life and which projects I'm involved with. My main activities are different crafts and hobby projects which I hope will inspire others who are interested in similar activities. For the rest of my visitors I hope that you will find this blog interesting and enjoyable. I will try to keep the blog in english, but everybody who coments or leave a message are free to use english or any of the scandinavian languages.

    Finally knitting for me

After some very busy days I finally got ready for the Christmas sale. I brought some caps, some shawls, pairs of fingerless gloves and a few turtles. On Friday morning I even managed to make some cards using Photoshop. The cards describe washing instructions and my contact info. After printing them I noticed that the font is hard to read in such a small size, so this will not be a permanent solution.

But the Christmas sale resulted in quite an anticlimax. As I told you earlier they were fully booked so it was uncertain if I would be allowed to attend, and when I got there I realized quickly that there would be no room for me. However, the owner of the café, where the Christmas sale took place, cleared up some room for me on top of a piano. The problem was that my space were separated from the rest of the sale, hidden in the background with the catering, so nobody noticed me and I didn't sell a thing. The other women selling their products at the sale told me that it was the worst year so far, and that almost nobody sold anything, except from those selling homemade food. On the bright side I got a few glasses of free wine and I got to meet a bunch of nice women. One of them even asked if I could do some orders for her on chrocheted "Nannysquare" blankets after New Year. So all in all I'm quite pleased with the evening.
During my preparations for the Christmas sale I decided that when the stress was finished I would find an enjoyable project to work with, something larger than a cap or some gloves, and this time it would be something for me. About a year ago I found the pattern for this sweather at Elann.com, and I bought the yarn planning to make the sweather three months ago. So the project has been waiting and mutured a while for me to have time to do it. The sweather is knitted flat from the middle of the back and in circle, I haven't done this before and now I'm totally hooked on this new technique.

You can find the pattern HERE among the many free patterns on this site. I chose to make my own version, so I've changed the colours, and I'm knitting in cotton instead of wool as in the original pattern. This is how far I got until now.
